Sutta Sobre Las Bendiciones

Evaṃ me sutaṃ. Ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā sāvatthiyaṃ viharati jetavane nāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme.

Así lo he oído. En cierta ocasión el Buddha residía en Sāvatthi, n el bosque de Jeta, en la arboleda de Anathapiṇḍika.

Thus have I heard. That the Blessed One was staying at Sāvatthī, residing at the Jeta’s Grove.

Atha kho aññatarā devatā abhikkantāya attiyā abhikkanta vaṇṇā kevala-kappaṃ jetavanaṃ obhāsetvā yena hagavā ten’ upasaṅkami

Entonces, uando la noche estaba llegando a su fín, cierta deidad, habiendo luminado toda la arboleda de Jeta con un resplandor maravilloso, e acercó adonde estaba el Buddha y,

Then in the dark of the night, a radiant deva illuminated all Jeta’s Grove.

upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā kamantaṃ atthāsi. Ekamantaṃ ṭhitā kho sā devatā bhagavantaṃ āthāya ajjhabhāsi.

habiendo ofrecido sus espetos, se echó a un lado. Permaneciendo de pie a un lado, la eidad se dirigió al Buddha en verso:

She bowed down low before the Blessed One, then standing to one side she said:

Bahū devā manussā ca maṅgalāni acintayuṃ; Ākankhamānā sotthānaṃ rūhi maṅgalam uttamaṃ.

Muchos son los dioses y humanos que han reflexionado sobre las endiciones Si en verdad deseas nuestra dicha, háblanos de la endición suprema.

Devas are concerned for happiness and ever long for peace; The same is true for humankind. What then are the highest blessings?

Asevanā ca bālānaṃ paṇḍitānañ ca sevanā Pūjā ca pūjanīyānaṃ etaṃ aṅgalam uttamaṃ.

No vivir con necios sino vivir con sabios, Honrar a quienes merecen er honrados, ésta es la bendición suprema.

Avoiding those of foolish ways, associating with the wise, and honoring those worthy of honor: These are the highest blessings.

Patirūpadesavāso ca pubbe ca katapuññatā Attasammāpaṇidhi ca etaṃ aṅgalam uttamaṃ.

Vivir en un lugar apropiado y haber realizado acciones buenas en l pasado, Aspirar a hacer uno mismo lo correcto, ésta es la endición suprema.

Living in places of suitable kinds, with the fruits of past good deeds and guided by the rightful way: These are the highest blessings.

Bāhusaccañ ca sippañ ca vinayo ca susikkhito Subhāsitā ca yā vācā taṃ maṅgalam uttamaṃ.

Tener muchos conocimientos, ser competente en una profesión, isciplinado y bien entrenado, Hablar bien y con elocuecia, ésta es a bendición suprema.

Accomplished in learning and craftsman’s skills, with discipline, highly trained, and speech that is true and pleasant to hear: These are the highest blessings.

Mātāpitu upatthānaṃ puttadārassa saṅgaho Anākulā ca kammantā etaṃ aṅgalam uttamaṃ.

Cuidar de padre y madre, ayudar a esposa e hijos, Trabajar sin gobios, ésta es la bendición suprema.

Providing for mother and father’s support and cherishing family, and ways of work that harm no being: These are the highest blessings.

Dānañ ca dhammacariyā ca ñātakānañ ca saṅgaho Anāvajjāni kammāni taṃ maṅgalam uttamaṃ.

Ser generoso y obrar en conformidad con el Dhamma, ayudar a amiliares [y amigos], Actuar de forma impecable, ésta es la endición suprema.

Giving with Dhamma in the heart, offering help to relatives and kin, and acting in ways that leave no blame: These are the highest blessings.

Āratī viratī pāpā majjapānā ca saṃyamo Appamādo ca dhammesu etaṃ aṅgalam uttamaṃ.

Evitar el mal [mental] y abstenerse de hacerlo [verbal y orporalmente], ser moderado al beber, Permaneciendo atento a los stados [de la mente], ésta es la bendición suprema.

Steadfast in restraint, and shunning evil ways, avoiding intoxicants that dull the mind, and heedfulness in all things that arise: These are the highest blessings.

Gāravo ca nivāto ca santuṭṭhī ca kataññutā Kālena dhammassavanaṃ taṃ maṅgalam uttamaṃ.

Ser respetuoso y humilde, conformado y agradecido, Escuchar el Dhamma con frecuencia, ésta es la bendición suprema.

Respectfulness and being of humble ways, contentment and gratitude, and hearing the Dhamma frequently taught: These are the highest blessings.

Khantī ca sovacassatā samaṇānañ ca dassanaṃ Kālena dhammasākacchā taṃ maṅgalam uttamaṃ.

Ser paciente y afable, visitar a personas santas, Hablar del Dhamma on frecuencia, ésta es la bendición suprema.

Patience and willingness to accept one’s faults, seeing venerated seekers of the truth, and sharing often the words of Dhamma: These are the highest blessings.

Tapo ca brahmacariyañ ca ariyasaccāna dassanaṃ Nibbānasacchikiriyā a etaṃ maṅgalam uttamaṃ.

Fervoroso, llevar una vida casta, ver las nobles verdades, Realizar el Nibbāna, ésta es la bendición suprema.

The holy life lived with ardent effort, seeing for oneself the noble truths, and the realization of Nibbāna: These are the highest blessings.

Phuṭṭhassa okadhammehi cittaṃ yassa na kampati. Asokaṃ virajaṃ khemaṃ etaṃ aṅgalam uttamaṃ.

Permanecer con una mente imperturbable ante cuestiones undanas, Sin aflicción, sin corrupción, a salvo, ésta es la endición suprema.

Although involved in worldly ways, unshaken the mind remains and beyond all sorrow, spotless, secure: These are the highest blessings.

Etādisāni katvāna sabbattham aparājitā. Sabbattha sotthiṃ gacchanti aṃ tesaṃ maṅgalam uttamaṃ ti.

Quienes actúan de este modo triunfan en todo lo que se proponen, Y a dicha les acompaña dondequiera que van, ésta es la bendición uprema.

They who live by following this path know victory wherever they go, and every place for them is safe: These are the highest blessings.
