Discurso de las Tres Joyas
Gems

Todos aquellos seres [no-humanos] que se han congregado aquí,
tanto los terrestres como los celestiales,
que todos ellos alegren su corazón,
y presten buena atención a lo que voy a decir:

Whatever beings have gathered here,
on the ground or in the sky:
may beings all be of happy heart,
and listen carefully to what is said.

Por la siguiente razón, oh seres, debéis escucharme: debéis
tender vuestro amor benevolente a la estirpe humana, a todos
aquellos que de día o de noche os ofrecen dádivas. Así pues
debéis protegedlos con diligencia.

So pay heed, all you beings,
have love for humankind,
who day and night bring offerings;
please protect them diligently.

Cualquier riqueza en este mundo o en el más allá, o la más
preciosa joya de los mundos
celestiales, no es para nosotros comparable al
Tathāgata. He aquí la preciosa joya del Buddha.
¡Que esta verdad os traiga bienaventuranza!

There’s no wealth here or beyond,
no sublime gem in the heavens,
that equals the Realized One.
This sublime gem is in the Buddha:
by this truth, may you be well!

El Sabio Sakya alcanzó con su concentración la
sublime cesación, la calma, el néctar inmortal.
No hay nada comparable a aquel Dhamma. He
aquí también la preciosa joya del Dhamma.
¡Que esta verdad os traiga bienaventuranza!

Ending, dispassion, the undying, the sublime,
attained by the Sakyan Sage immersed in samādhi;
there is nothing equal to that Dhamma.

by this truth, may you be well!

Aquella concentración dicen que es insuperable,
y el supremo Buddha la describió como pureza.
No hay otra concentración igual.
He aquí también la preciosa joya del Dhamma.
¡Que esta verdad os traiga bienaventuranza!

The purity praised by the highest Buddha
is said to be the “immersion with immediate fruit”;
no equal to that immersion is found.
This sublime gem is in the Dhamma:
by this truth, may you be well!

Las ofrendas a las ocho personas
elogiadas por la gente honrada son de gran
fruto. Pues estos cuatro pares de personas,
discípulos del Afortunado, son dignos de
dádiva. He aquí también la preciosa joya del Sangha.
¡Que esta verdad os traiga bienaventuranza!

The eight individuals praised by the good,
are the four pairs of the Holy One’s disciples;
they are worthy of religious donations,
what’s given to them is very fruitful.
This sublime gem is in the Saṅgha:
by this truth, may you be well!

Los que, aplicándose correctamente, con mente
firme, esforzándose en la enseñanza de Gotama,
la llevan a la práctica y entran en lo inmortal,
disfrutan directamente de la liberación lograda.
He aquí también la preciosa joya del Sangha.
¡Que esta verdad os traiga bienaventuranza!

Dedicated to Gotama’s dispensation,
strong-minded, free of sense desire,
they’ve attained the goal, plunged into the deathless,
and enjoy the quenching they’ve freely gained.
This sublime gem is in the Saṅgha:
by this truth, may you be well!

Así como el poste de Indra está clavado en la tierra,
y ninguno de los cuatro vientos lo puede sacudir, de
forma similar describo yo a la persona honrada que
asimila y contempla las nobles verdades.
He aquí también la preciosa joya del Sangha.
¡Que esta verdad os traiga bienaventuranza!

As a well planted boundary-pillar
is not shaken by the four winds,
I say a good person is like this,
who sees the noble truths in experience.
This sublime gem is in the Saṅgha:
by this truth, may you be well!

Quienes comprenden claramente las nobles verdades
que fueron enseñadas por una sabiduría profunda,
aun si cometen un exceso de negligencia, no
alcanzarán una octava existencia.
He aquí también la preciosa joya del Sangha.
¡Que esta verdad os traiga bienaventuranza!

Those who fathom the noble truths
taught by the one of deep wisdom,
do not take an eighth life,
even if they are hugely negligent.
This sublime gem is in the Saṅgha:
by this truth, may you be well!

Al momento de lograr la visión,
esta persona abandona tres cosas:
la idea de sí mismo, la duda
y cualquier apego a costumbres.

When they attain to vision
they give up three things:
identity view, doubt, and any
attachment to precepts and observances.

Incapaz de cometer ninguna de las seis acciones malignas,
queda también liberado de los cuatro estados de miseria.
He aquí también la preciosa joya del Sangha.
¡Que esta verdad os traiga bienaventuranza!

They’re freed from the four places of loss,
and unable to perform the six grave crimes.
This sublime gem is in the Saṅgha:
by this truth, may you be well!

Puede que cometa una acción reprobable
de cuerpo, de palabra o de pensamiento,
pero aun así esta persona no lo esconde,
tal honestidad es propia de quien ha visto el Camino.
He aquí también la preciosa joya del Sangha.
¡Que esta verdad os traiga bienaventuranza!

Even if they do a bad deed
by body, speech, or mind,
they are unable to conceal it;
they say this inability applies to one who has seen the truth.
This sublime gem is in the Saṅgha:
by this truth, may you be well!

Como las copas de los árboles en un bosque que
empiezan a florecer en el primer mes del verano, así
es el excelente Dhamma que enseñó el Buddha,
pues conduce al nibbāna, el bien más alto.
He aquí también la preciosa joya del Buddha.
¡Que esta verdad os traiga bienaventuranza!

Like a tall forest tree crowned with flowers
in the first month of summer;
that’s how he taught the superb Dhamma,
leading to quenching, the ultimate benefit.
This sublime gem is in the Buddha:
by this truth, may you be well!

Él es excelente, conocedor y transmisor de lo
excelente, y que adoptó él mismo lo excelente,
enseñó el insuperable y excelente Dhamma.
He aquí también la preciosa joya del Buddha.
¡Que esta verdad os traiga bienaventuranza!

The superb, knower of the superb, giver of the superb, bringer of the superb;
taught the superb Dhamma supreme.
This sublime gem is in the Buddha:
by this truth, may you be well!

El pasado se ha extinguido y no hay nueva originación
para aquellos cuya mente no se inclina al devenir.
Para ellos está seca la semilla,
no hay intención de hacerla crecer.
Los sabios, así, se extinguen, como una lámpara de aceite.
He aquí también la preciosa joya del Sangha.
¡Que esta verdad os traiga bienaventuranza!

The old is ended, nothing new is produced.
their minds have no desire for future rebirth.
Withered are the seeds, there’s no desire for growth,
those wise ones are extinguished just like this lamp.

by this truth, may you be well!

inclinémonos respetuosamente ante tal Dhamma, honrado por dioses y humanos.
